The historic Wanamaker Building opened in 1911 as the first department store in the United States. Over 100 years later, Mindspace has taken up residence and has become Philadelphia’s trendiest co-working destination. Tantillo Architecture was awarded the ambitious task of modernizing this Philadelphia landmark and, among other materials, they incorporated graphic tile in a nod to the building’s historic and elegant past. In preparing the substrate of the iconic building, Suburban performed extensive floor and surface leveling before installing approximately 6,000 square feet of large-format porcelain floor tile. Dramatic backsplashes and striking green tile pillars complete this one-of-a-kind co-working space.
