Fashion District Philadelphia has been a center city attraction since its opening in 1977 as the Gallery Mall. In 2015, extensive renovations started on the over one million square-foot property to bring it into the twenty-first century. Suburban began working on the landmark project in 2017. Over 250,000 square feet of shot blast and self-leveling was performed in order to prepare the existing concrete substrate for tile. Certain concourses which serve the Septa train and subway lines required extensive use of wet bed installation for the porcelain tile. Suburban installed over 300,000 square feet of tile on this project. The project features large format porcelain panels and porcelain and ceramic tiles in a variety of sizes and finishes. The newly renovated mall opened in September of 2019.
